The SSI Advanced Open Water Diver course is an excellent way for divers to broaden their horizons, gain confidence in their abilities, and enhance their diving skills.
This course provides certified divers an introduction into five specialty programs that will fuel your passion for diving and dive education.
INTRODUCTION INTO FIVE SPECIALTIES
- Deep Diving
- Perfect Buoyancy
- Night/Limited Visibility Diving
- Navigation
- Search & Recovery
PREREQUISITES
- Open Water Diver
- Minimum Age: 12 years old
WHAT’S NEEDED
- Full scuba kit (if you do not own your own equipment, you may rent it for this class).
- Special equipment: each student must either own or have access to special equipment required to complete the program skills. This includes an underwater flashlight, a compass (or a computer with digital compass capabilities), a Delayed Surface Marker Buoy (DSMB), a dive computer.
- Other equipment, such as a lift bag, will be used but provided by Ski/Scuba Center.
WHERE
- The classroom and pool sessions are held at Ski/Scuba Center.
- Open Water Training dives take place at a local quarry.
TRAINING MATERIALS
- Upon making a deposit for this program, you will receive an email with a link to your digital training programs (all specialties).
- You must complete all quizzes — FOR THE SPECIFIED SPECIALTIES ONLY — with a score of 100% before you arrive for class.
TRAINING DIVES
- To complete your certification, you will need to complete a minimum of 5 training dives over 2 days.
SCHEDULE/DURATION
- ~4-5 hours of online material review
- Two evenings (6pm-10pm) of classroom instruction
- Two days (9am~3pm) of open water quarry dives
