Stay Smart, Dive Safe: Unlock the potential with your dive computer
Dive Computer Specialty Course is designed for divers who want to enhance their diving experience by effectively using dive computers. This course emphasizes the importance of understanding and managing dive data, enabling divers to plan and execute safer and more enjoyable dives.
Course content includes in-depth training in:
- Dive Computer Basics: Participants learn the fundamental concepts of dive computers, including how they function and the different types available. – The course covers the essential components of a dive computer, such as depth sensors, time tracking, and algorithms for calculating no-decompression limits and ascent rates.
- Understanding Dive Profiles: Divers will learn how to interpret and analyze dive profiles displayed on their computers, which includes understanding ascent and descent rates, bottom time, and safety stops.
- Planning Dives: The course teaches how to utilize dive computers for planning dives effectively. This includes understanding how to set maximum depth limits, dive time, and gas consumption rates. Participants will become familiar with pre-dive checks and how to ensure their dive computer is functioning properly.
- Using Dive Computers in Varied Conditions: The course prepares divers to use their dive computers in various environments, such as recreational diving, deep diving, or while using different gas mixes (e.g., nitrox). Divers will also learn about the benefits of using a dive computer versus traditional dive tables.
- Post-Dive Data Analysis: Students will learn how to review and analyze their dive data after the dive, which helps in understanding performance and optimizing future diving experiences.
- Hands-on Training: The course typically includes practical sessions where divers can work with the instructors and staff to learn how to change the settings and navigate the menus on their own computers. Note that this course is not a tutorial on each diver computer, but the Ski/Scuba Center staff will set time aside to assist students with their particular models at the end of the course.
