The American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program combines the best in swim instruction with a strong emphasis on drowning prevention and water safety.  Courses are available for a variety of ages and skill levels to encourage healthy, lifelong recreational habits and to help keep your family safe.

Ski/Scuba offers private & group swim lessons to ages 2 and up.

Instructors

Jackie Bussard-Bertucci
Jackie, the daughter of legendary UT and Olympic coach Ray Bussard, is our American Red Cross Swim Instructor. Jackie has been teaching babies to adults how to swim since 1986. Jackie also coaches at the Pilot Aquatic Club in Knoxville and has been the head age group coach since 1994. Jackie has since become one of the top age group coaches in swimming in the country. Jackie’s recognition and accolades include being named Southeastern Swimming Age Group Coach of the year in 1999, 2002, 2003 as well as Age Group Chair of Southeastern swimming from 2002-2006. She also served as Head Coach of the Southeastern Zone All-Star Team in 1999, 2000 and 2001. Jackie was elected by her peers to the board of Southeastern Swimming and has served from 2002 to present.

In the summers, she has been involved as a swimmer, parent and coach for the Knoxville Racquet Club and served as their Head Coach this past season and will be heading up to the KRC this summer working with swimmers as young as 3 yrs to 18.

Prior to becoming a full time swim instructor and coach, Jackie coached for several years with the UT Continuing Education swim program and at swim camps at Mercersberg, PA, Lawrence, NY and St. Bonaventure, NY.

Sadie Counts
Sadie began competitive swimming with Knoxville’s Pilot Aquatics, now known as Tennessee Aquatics, in 2009. She graduated from Maryville High School where she competed on the Varsity Swim Team for 4 years and was the Senior Captain. Then she attended the University of Nebraska where she swam for 4 years, and spent a year and a half as the UNL Swim Club’s President. She also competed in Collegiate Club Nationals multiple times and was the longest serving President the Club ever had.

She has swam and coached for multiple summer teams in the Knoxville area and has been teaching lessons for the past 6 years. She is CPR and First Aid certified through the Red Cross.

Facility

    • Indoor heated pool (86+ degrees)
    • Classes are offered year round.
    • This will help your child to advance their water skills and remember those skills from summer to summer.

Viewing Area

Parents are welcome and encouraged to watch lessons. There is a lobby for viewing the lessons up close.

Swim Lesson Schedule

Private Lessons
Available upon request. We will work with you to meet your needs when scheduling a class.
Length: 30 minute sessions, 3 session minimum.
Age: All ages
Cost: $40.00

Group Lessons
Available upon request. We will work with you to meet your needs when scheduling a class.
Length: 30 minute sessions, 3 session minimum.
